Construction Process

The Building Process

Building a home is one of the most exciting experiences in a person's life.  We understand how important it is to create a safe and warm environment to create lasting memories in.  To protect you and your family, we ensure a construction manager follows our standard building practices along with municipality inspections to build your home.

Steps to
Building a New Home

  • Pre-Construction Meeting with Hallmark Sales Representative and Community Builder
    Step 1

Pre-Construction Meeting with Hallmark Sales Representative and Community Builder

This is when the fun begins! You'll meet with Hallmark team members to review the floorplan and selections for your new home. As part of Hallmark's commitment to keeping you informed, we'll provide you with an estimated timeline for all major components of construction and for the completion of your new home. Together, we'll set up a convenient time each week when we can call you to review the status of your home's construction and to answer any questions.

  • Quality Assurance/Inspections
    Step 2

    Quality Assurance/Inspections

Throughout the construction period, each home must pass numerous Township inspections, as well as Hallmark inspections to assure the quality and integrity of your new home. Hallmark takes great pride in building your dream home.

  • Basement is Dug; Foundation is Poured

After permits are obtained, the construction process begins in earnest. At this time, we install the footing and pour the foundation.

  • Pre-Drywall Orientation
    Step 4

    Pre-Drywall Orientation

Once again, you'll meet with your Hallmark team to walk through your new home for a peek "behind the walls". You'll review the framing, electrical locations and more.

  • Drywall, Trim & Paint
    Step 5

    Drywall, Trim & Paint

Here's where your house starts to look like your home. Drywall is installed, walls are painted, doors, baseboards, and other trim are applied. The exterior of your home is being detailed as well. If the frame of your home is "the skeleton"...the drywall, trim and paint are the skin.

  • Finishes Are Installed
    Step 6

    Finishes Are Installed

All of your personal choices are being added at this stage: cabinets, flooring, countertops and more. These selections help make your home uniquely yours. Outside, we'll be putting the finishing touches on sidewalks, driveway and landscaping.

  • Pre-Settlement Orientation
    Step 7

    Pre-Settlement Orientation

You're dream home is almost yours! You'll walk through your home one last time with your Hallmark team to learn how to use the appliances, the heating and cooling systems, and more. At this time, we'll answer any questions you may have about your new home and how to best maintain it. We'll also review our industry-leading warranty program.

  • Settlement Is Here
    Step 8

    Settlement Is Here

Welcome home! The day you've been waiting for is here. You'll review and sign the final documents, and be given the keys to your new Hallmark home.
