Residents of New Custom Homes in Bucks County Enjoy Regional Holiday Events

Living in Bucks County, you can anticipate a holiday season bright with illumination and tradition. In addition to the area’s wide range of amenities, exciting arrays of events are just a short drive.

If you’re moving to Bucks County, whether you’re living at Highfield Estates in Chalfont, PA or at Country Ridge in Perkasie, PA, you can expect lively adventures ahead of you that will enkindle that special sense of mid-winter wonder.

Light Up the Night

Amid the snowflakes awaits Peddler’s Village, a diverse complex of specialty shops, distinctive eateries and cozy lodging accommodations. Every year in mid-November, Santa and Mrs. Claus kick off the Grand Illumination Celebration by switching on one million jewel-colored lights.

The village is transformed into a nighttime wonderland, and as a guest you can enjoy roasted marshmallows, warm apple cider and extended shopping hours until 10:00 pm. Pose for a family photo with Santa at Giggleberry Fair or sing along to holiday favorites performed by local musicians and area school choirs.

Climb Aboard

A wintertime adventure awaits you with the New Hope and Ivyland Railroad, featuring the return of the historic #40 Steam Locomotive. In the very presence of Santa and Mrs. Claus, you and your family will travel from New Hope Station through the Bucks County countryside, all the way to the North Pole and back again.

As you take in the scenery, you can enjoy hot cocoa and snacks amid the festive decorations adorning the railway cars. Each child receives a special sleigh bell gift from St. Nick himself while roaming musicians perform carols throughout the evening.

Head Out to the Farm

For 100 years and four generations, Shady Brook Farms has championed the agricultural way of life. Every winter season, you can explore several acres of these farmlands during the Holiday Light Show. Imagine slowly cruising past three million lights arranged around a collection of familiar holiday characters and whimsical displays.

Take it all in from the comfort of your own vehicle or, weather permitting, from an authentic perch in an open-air wagon. Visitors are encouraged to warm up by the fireside with hot chocolate and s’mores and pick out the perfect locally grown Christmas tree.

Celebrate the Season

Tree lighting ceremonies are a Bucks County tradition that began over 100 years ago. If you’re especially fond of such events, not one but two await your attendance so that you can help give the holiday season a bright welcome. The Borough of Perkasie hosts what is officially recognized as the oldest tree lighting ceremony in the United States -- started in 1909.

Not far behind in age and located nearby is the Doylestown Annual Christmas Tree Lighting -- started in 1914. Both events feature appearances by Santa, festive displays and plenty of holiday cheer.

If you move to Bucks County in 2018, you’ll be able to join in on all of these holiday festivities for years to come!
